Project Overview
California Cloth Foundry creates textiles and apparel in harmony with nature, using regenerative natural fibers, botanical dyes, and chemical-free finishes. We took over and enhanced their existing e-commerce platform, transforming it into a calm, editorial storefront that puts fabric purity and provenance front and center, supports high‑fidelity imagery without sacrificing performance, and guides customers through an effortless checkout across devices. We continue to actively maintain and improve the platform.

Understanding the problem before building the solution
Background
We took over California Cloth Foundry's e-commerce platform when their previous developer departed. The boutique clothing manufacturer wanted to enhance their online presence to better showcase their handmade garments and improve the customer experience. There were opportunities to optimize the product imagery display and streamline the checkout process.
The Challenge
Transform the existing e-commerce platform into an elevated online shopping experience that captures the in-person boutique feel while showcasing the craftsmanship of each piece. The enhanced site needed to handle high-resolution imagery without sacrificing performance, while preserving existing customer data and order history.
Our Solution
We redesigned the landing page to highlight products with a dynamic carousel of high-resolution imagery, creating an engaging first impression. The checkout experience was re-engineered into a smooth two-step process, supported by smart image loading for optimal speed, all achieved without disrupting their existing backend infrastructure.
